The Stillwater Police Department is proud to offer its Police Cadet Program, a hands-on experience for young individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Open to individuals ages 14 to 21, this program combines real-world training, professional mentorship, and skill development. The program runs annually from September through mid-April, with meetings held every other Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Stillwater Police Department (216 4th St N, Stillwater). Specific start dates are to be determined. Each session focuses on a different law enforcement topic. After a short classroom-style learning portion, cadets are placed into realistic scenarios where they must apply their knowledge to resolve incidents—just like real officers in the field. Its goal is to provide in-depth law enforcement education and long-term mentoring, guiding participants as they move through high school, college, and into the professional world.

Participants are issued a full Stillwater Police Cadet uniform, including:

• Uniform pants and shirt

• Duty belt with:

  • Radio holder

  • Glove pouch

  • Key ring holder

  • Taser holster (no taser)

  • Firearm holster (no firearm)

Required costs for cadets:

• Duty boots ($30–$200, depending on style; no specific brand required)

• Flashlight ($10–$200; any model accepted)
