2023 Stillwater Heritage Preservation Commission Awards Call for Nominations

Each year, the Stillwater Heritage Preservation Commission recognizes Heritage Preservation Accomplishments that advances the Commission’s goal to preserve and protect use of areas, lands, places, buildings, structures, districts or other objects having a special historical, community or aesthetic interest or value. Each year in October, the Heritage Preservation Awards are awarded in conjunction with the City of Stillwater’s Birthday (October 26, 1843). This year, the City is celebrating its 180th Birthday. Earlier in June, the Heritage Preservation Commission celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary of preserving Stillwater’s Heritage.

Project that advance that goal can include, but are not limited to the following categories.
• New Single-Family Home (Infill Development)
• Residential Remodel/Restoration
• Front Porch Restoration
• Commercial Storefront Façade Restoration
• Adaptive Reuse of Heritage Preservation Site
• Avoiding Demolition
• Signage
• Group or Individual Contributions to Heritage Preservation
• Other unique projects that encourage reinvestment balanced with Heritage Preservation

This year, the Heritage Preservation Commission is seeking the help of the community in identifying projects that are worthy of recognition that advance the Heritage Preservation Commission’s goals. In order to receive a Heritage Preservation Award, the project must be completed. Preference is given to projects completed between October, 2022 and October, 2023. In case worthy projects have not been recognized in previous years, the Heritage Preservation Commission reserves the right to award projects completed prior to October, 2022.
