The City Council approved a 61 unit rental apartment building at 200 Chestnut St E earlier in 2021.  The Developer has completed several obligations and has now started construction on the project. The Developer (and Building Owner) is Reuter Walton Development. The Developer has hired Frana Companies as their General Contractor.

The first month or so will consist of preparing the site and demolishing the existing building. Demolition is anticipated to be completed in approximately one month, ending in March.  

The next major construction milestone will be the installation of footings and foundation for the building and underground parking. There will be some noise disruption as a result of driving pilings for these improvements. The General Contractor will have an environmental engineer on site checking for noise and vibrations. The City, Developer and General Contractor will work together to provide another update closer to the start of this activity. The Project will be using Braun Intertec to monitor vibrations. Braun has completed initial surveys and placed a couple of vibration monitors, set to strict standards. We encourage area Owners and Tenants to take your own pre-construction photos for your own records or future discussions if issues arise.

In total, construction is planned to last approximately thirteen (13) months, ending in March 2023. There will be varying degrees of impact throughout the duration of the project. Area travelers should expect partial road impacts and short term road closures throughout the duration of the project. We will do our best to minimize negative impacts, but minor disruptions are to be expected.
